THE Barbados Jazz Festival, dubbed ‘A True Jazz Festival’, will begin on Monday, January 12 and ends on Sunday, January 18.

One of the headline acts will be James Blunt, a British folk singer who is best known for his hit song ‘You’re Beautiful’ from his 2004 album ‘Back to Bedlam’. His latest album, ‘All The Lost Souls’, was released in 2007.

According to the organisers of the event, G.M.R. International Tours, it is a honour for them to have been able to host the event for the past 16 years, which was made possible through the support of their sponsors and patrons.

“We have put together what we consider to be an excellent cast of artistes for your enjoyment,”

a release said.

pAt Monday’s event slated for the Sanbury Plantation House in St. Philip, Harvey Mason and Diana Jarrett will be entertaining attendees while Tuesday night’s event will feature David Burnett and Dwane Husbands at Heritage Park/The Rum Factory

James Blunt and Kite will be the acts for Wednesday night’s show which will be held at the Garfield Sobers Complex, while Errol Ince will perform on Thursday evening at The Crane Resort and Residence.

On Friday at the Illaro Court, patrons will be entertained by Dee Dee Bridgewater, Raf Robertson and Birdsong Academy while on Saturday entertainment will continue at the Farley Hill, National Park with Angie Stone, Glenn Lewis and Nexcyx.

The curtain comes down at Sunday night’s show with Chrisette Michele, Hilario Duran and BCC Jazz Project at the Farley Hill National Park.

The Barbados Jazz Festival is described as the premiere jazz festival of the Caribbean.
