Hi,
I wanted to comment on this year’s 2007 Jamaica Jazz Festival.
I was disappointed in the venue this year, which was moved from one side of the road to the other. It did not have the same ambiance and although we were told that it was a larger venue to me it seem smaller.
Last year I was quiet impressed with even the bathroom facilities and staff that manned them in their coordinating uniforms, someone to hand you a towel and lotion (that was a class act). This year it was very muddy where you washed your hands and you had to help yourself to the paper if any was available. Although there were two bathroom areas, these too were smaller areas with very long lines, especially for women.
And last but definitely not least was the traffic! Where do I start? In what should have taken 30 to 45 minutes to get to the venue. It took us almost 5 hours! If not for our driver and walking the last mile we might never of made it at all on Friday night. When it was time to leave it was just a bad (if not worse), when the show was over and time for us to exit the park at the same time with all the cars and buses it was totally chaos. Whose smart idea was that to have people and transportation going and leaving from the same entrance?
Needless to say, we were not willing to go through that another night and missed what I’m sure was a very good show.
This will make me think twice about next year 2008.
The star line for Festival 2007, was incredible to say the least. However, several issues arose that minimized the promoters efforts. The traffic and road conditions were terrible. The impact of the traffic even when preparing to leave early was awful. I and many of my friends missed many of the earlier acts because of severe congestion. The change of venue, to simply across the road was not great either. The lines for the ladies bathroom was excessive. Last year, your committe managed this well. I was extremely disappointed and suggest you return to the planning and organzation exhibited in 2006.
Guys….I just hope the directors of the Air Jamaica Jazz Festival get an opportunity read your comments and opinions…….I’m certain that your opinions are shared by others.
