Montreal International Jazz Festival 2009 Lineup
The Montreal International Jazz Festival, one of the biggest such events in the world, will have a star-studded lineup for its July 1-12 run this year.
The dozens of attractions will include Wynton Marsalis, Jeff Beck, Ornette Coleman, Jackson Browne, King Sunny Adé, Femi Kuti, Pink Martini, Madeleine Peyroux, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Joshua Redman, Patricia Barber, Chris Botti and a “Miles From India,” program, inspired by Miles Davis, with Rudresh Mahanthappa, U. Shrinivas, Robert Irving III and Pete Cosey. The festival regularly attracts more than a million visitors for concerts at and around the Place des Arts complex downtown.
For its 30th anniversary season the festival will also unveil two new performance spaces as part of a four-year $120-million expansion plan. Tickets for many concerts are already on sale.
